I'm Gonçalo. I work in IT governance: project and portfolio management, IT service management, and business intelligence. In practice that means deciding which projects a company should actually be running, then living with the consequences of that decision for the next eighteen months.
What I build
Outside of work I build small, deliberately narrow software:
- vTimers: a set of free online timers (Pomodoro, Tabata, EMOM, stopwatch) that don't require an account or harvest anything.
- Second Brain: a personal knowledge base for notes, documents and projects.
The common thread is that I'd rather ship one thing that works than maintain five that nearly do.
What I write about
Mostly the gap between how IT governance is described in frameworks and how it behaves in a room with real budgets and real politics. Occasionally about training, music, or 3D printing.
I'd rather publish one honest post a month than a polished one a quarter. We'll see how that goes.
